Tanzanian's interested to watch the FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa mid this year, will have the easiest means of transport to be provided by the Tanzania Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA) TAZARA management announced yesterday that they would start selling tickets by the end of this month that will enable fans descend to South Africa.
The World Cup will start from June 11 to July 11, and it will be staged for the first time in Africa. TAZARA Depute Managing Director, Damas Ndumbaro said yesterday that the tickets selling would be done through Stanbic Bank. However, he would not specify how much it will cost, saying they were still finalising logistics. " We are finalising some of the details but the tickets for our tourists train that would ferry fans to South Africa would be sold starting the end of the month," he said.
However, he said ,they would issue a statement on the fares soon. He gave an assurance to fans that the tickets will be available at the lower cost than taking a flight or by road to South Africa.
He said the special tourist train would accomodate at least 500 passengers. Ndumbaro said fans would have to buy the match tickets and travelling documents on their own.
Africa's representatives in the World Cup finals are hosts South Africa, Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria, Camerron and Ivory Coast. Other countries which have qualified for the finals are England, Korea, DPR Serbia, Argentina, France, Korea Republic, Slovakia, Australia, German, Mexico, Slovenia, Brazil and Netherlands.
The list also has Greece, New Zealand, Spain, Chile, Honduras, Switzerland, Italy, Paraguay, Denmark, Japan, Portugal and USA. |
